Fuse Electrical

Fuse Electrical is the hypothetical client of Wintec students working for the simulated entity CIC Digital Solutions.

These students are enrolled in programme EF1805 Certificate in Computing, Leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3).

Project-based learning provides a realistic and authentic context for students to learn in. A project-based approach permits the learning outcomes of the modules to be integrated together, allowing for computer skills to be gained in a cohesive learning experience. The project is structured to ensure that students’ knowledge, skills and abilities are advanced in a progressive and coherent way.

A core Unit Standard 29793, Investigate, plan, design and create digital outcome solutions to meet the requirements of a specified brief, is the linch pin of the project. The client is a new start up company requiring a range of print and marketing materials as well as needing to establish a web presence.

It becomes apparent to students as the project progresses that the client also needs support with documentation to mitigate some ethical and security issues for its staff. Before the project ends some of the staff also need a range of devices configured and set up to enable them to transact their business.

The domain fuseelectrical.nz exists to provide web space and mail services that facilitate a real experience for learners.
